Ivan was here, but,
we are still
Opal’s Landing

Opal and Ivan, two major hurricanes, came our way in the last decade. But, when mother nature gave us lemons, we made lemonade. In fact, that’s the color of the new paint on the living room.om walls!
The original house was built in 1960, and, at the time, was one of just a handful on the coastal barrier isle, named Santa Rosa and dubbed locally , “Okaloosa Island”.
When the wind and water of Hurricane Opal all but completely destroyed the house, in 1995, we expanded and rebuilt with many improvements. Then, when, the eye of Hurricane Ivan made landfall near Pensacola Beach, in September 2004, we endured damage from the rising surge. But, after 6 months of R&R (repair & remodel), we are proud to say that the house is better than ever.
Inspired by an appreciation of the effect of light and color on the spirit, we’ve attempted to create a playful, yet peaceful ,environment for your R & R (rest & relaxation).
During your stay at Opal’s Landing, we hope you will find comfort and calm, shelter from the storms of daily living.
